05-29-08 - Finishing Left Aft Spar
Getting ready to match drill the doubler plate to the aft spar.
The holes around the alieron pushrod holes are laser
marked on the doubler. The outer holes are not predone by
sonex so there isn't a left/right part until fabrication.
I lined up the two wholes that match up with the rib holes and clamped
the doubler.
Match drilled to #30. I move the doubler to the aft side of
the spar channel to match drill the rib holes and drill the other two
holes.
Marking and drilling the holes oposite the rib holes.
Here I've clecoed the doubler to the back of the channel to match drill
the rib holes.
All but the rib holes updrilled to #30.
The finished doubler.
The holes in the aft spar splice plate are used to match drill the
channel. I put a 2x4 block under the joint to keep the
channels aligned - the flange bends clamp the board perfectly.
Some of the holes drilled to #40. The rest of them will get
drilled straight to #30.
All of the holes driled to #30.
Drilling the angle used to attach the tip rib to.
Drilled to #30, deburred and scotchbrited.
