04-29-08 - Aft Spar Tip Rib Attach Angles

The aft spar rib attach angle marked for cutting and drilling.

Rear aft spar left root rib attach angle rough cut and drilled.

Edges and surfaces sanded smooth and filed to the proper angles.  The spar attach flange is a bit of a trick to file correctly - its a very small angle.

Switching gears - I still have to make the right root rib, but I felt like working with something else for the rest of the evening.

Marking the 1"x1" angle for cutting.

Prior to using the snips to cut the angle I used the band saw to cut the corner.  The snips can't cut the corner without tearing the metal a bit, this eliminates that issue.

Snip, snip...

The two rough cut blanks for the right and left tip rib attach angles.

I used the band saw and a 2x4 as a rip fence to cut the 1" angle down to the required 1/2" legs.
