04-12-2008 - Root Rib Attach Angles & New Shop
Pictures
The new workshop. Its a bit cluttered, but I've got enought
space to store all of the kit pieces and still have room to work
without having to trip over stuff like my last shop.
A different view of the shop.
I bought a metal cutting bandsaw from Harbor Freight - it was on sale,
I couldn't resist.
After a bit of alignment I'm ready to make the first cut.
The downfeed force is adjustable - this saw cuts through the AL
effortlessly.
Nice and straight. Since I was cutting the angle with a
hacksaw, this is a HUGE improvement. And its easier on the
arm.
View from the other side. The blade tracks right down the
mark.
Nice clean cut. Since it is more accurate than a hacksaw I
won't have as much work finishing the piece.
Much quicker than a hacksaw. Here's the four blanks for the
root rib angles before bending.
I got a much bigger vice. Much better than the toy I was
using before we moved.
Trim lines and rivet holes marked. I don't like cutting up my
prints so I take the time to measure out all of the cuts/holes.
Rivet holes drilled to #40.
Rough cut angle. I used my smaller wood bandsaw to cut the
angle.
Cleaned up and polished.
