Kit Inventory & Beginning Front Fuse Sides
After the "oops" with the aileron pushrods I decided to go ahead and
really inventory the rest of the kit. Swaping a similar Xenos
parts for Sonex parts is going to happen - the part number prefix is
just to similar. It is really bad when the part number
sticker is upside down.
The firewall and the lower forward fuse skin.
A different angle of the FW.
Wing peices and the forward fuse sides. If you look closely
you can see the next shipping oops.
Definately different - the sizes are the same, but the holes are
different and most of the rivet lines are predrilled. The
Xenos
must have a different method of construction.
The correct part number.
The holes in the skin are different at the wing root than they are on
the Xenos.
The skin rivet lines are also predrilled - I wonder if the skin could
be used as a template. I imagine the skin holes are to be
located
per the angle pieces.
Yep - definately the wrong skin. I had to stare at them for a
while for it to really sink in what the difference was.
These holes could be modified to match the Sonex ones - that would be a
pain in the ass.
Moving on - here's the lower aft fuse skin.
Next layer - aft fuse sides
Turtle deck skins - the angle makes the shapes look funny.
The next layer is some misc. rectangle peices to be fabbed.
And inventory of the angle bundle. It appears that its all
here and correct.
Now to get back to work fabricating parts. I'm starting on
the
forward fuse angle parts. You can see the highlighting method
I'm
using in the drawings. I highlight the kit supplied parts in
orange and the parts I have to fabricate in blue. As parts
are
completed I highlight them in the lower right corner.
Lots of parts from the kit, but I still have to fab a bunch.
Rough cut angle clip. I'm getting better with the bandsaw.
Just a piece of angle.
Edge cut at the angle indicated on the drawings. Thats
enought for tonight.
