I went to HF yesterday afternoon and picked up a couple of spare blades
for the bandsaw. We'll see how long this one lasts.
I also got some unibits and punches. I put the hole in the
tail channel as called out in the plans.
One of the clips on the vert. starts out from 2"x2" angle. I
cut it using the miter box and a hack saw.
The miter saw is too agressive for the angle, but a hack saw works
great.
The raw blank for the clip.
I marked the centerline of the finished part - the angle was cut a bit
long so I'd have material to work with.
The ends trimmed with the bandsaw.
No interrum shots - but here's the final product. I drilled
1/2" holes for the raidused inside corners.
The pilot holes marked and drilled. I used 320 grit sandpaper
to smooth the mill finish and remove any of the burrs.
The front spar attach fitting clamped in place for match drilling.
I used scrap AL clamped to the flanges to ensure that the
fitting is centered on the channel. I marked the channel
where the top of the fitting lines up on the channel.
The opposite side.
The holes pilot drilled to #40.
The parts of the front spar drilled to #30 and deburred.
Clecoed together for riveting.
Riveted - as I've done previously, the blue masking tape is to keep me
from riveting the wrong holes. A rib will eventually go where
these holes are.
