Continuing
with the work from the 4th I started on the opposite side front spar
channel. I won't bore you by repeating the same shots from
the
other day, so some steps are ommited.
Here's the front spar channel (cut the other day) ready for marking.
Here
I've marked all of the #40 pilot hole locations and the cut and bend
lines on the far right side. If you look closely you can
faintly
see them.
All of the pilot holes drilled, the end cut, bent & deburred.
I promise that isn't the same picture as above.
I
lined up the front spar channel the using the same method as before - I
marked the center line of the first rivets using the full size detail
on the drawing. Then I clamped it to the spar, and drilled it
for
about 8 clecos.
Here's the other side. Now to drill the spar and channel up
to #40 for the rivets.
Here I've drilled and clecoed the assembly on the left side up to #30.
Notice
the burrs left on the spar from the drilling. I'll remove
these
by turning a 3/16" drill bit with my fingers. Its quick and
easy
- about 2 twists with little pressure and the burr is gone.
The
spar and the channel drilled to #30. I debur the channel
(where
necessicary) using the same method. I've also hit any
scraches
with 400grit.
Thats all I got done tonight - I took my PPL written exam this
afternoon so that took up some of my build time. I passed.
