Got off to a slow start today - had some water leakage issues.
The washing machine decided to leak all over the floor above
the garage.
It looks bad, but after it dries it'll be fine - I caught it in time.
This could have been much worse (ceiling falling in).
I poked a hole and got about a gallon of water out of the celing - what
a MESS! I'll just have to do some patching and painting.
Luckly the only thing that got wet was the spar cap tubes.
Everything in the tube looked fine and dry.
Back to inventory - the wingtips really show how deep the wing is.
And the ailerons extend beyond the trailing edge of the wing.
This is the contents of the former/control surface ribs. Lots
of fun things in this box.
All of the little laser cut bits are in here in baggies.
There are a bunch of the rib reinforcement tabs in here that
need bending.
The bottom of the gusset has a bit of "laser flash" on it. It
scrapes off with a finger nail - pretty cool how these parts are cut.
Now presenting - the canopy box. Very similiar to the other
big cardboard boxes.
But its what's inside of the canopy box that makes it cool - SHREDS!!!!
Someone had fun packing this box. I'll bet this
part of the warehouse has shredded bits all over.
Slowly the shreds are emptied and the canopy is revealed.
Definately cool - bigger than I remember. Though I
think that Richard's (first Sonex I sat in) was already trimmed to fit
the fuse. It was sitting on top of a shelf in his garage
without the plane to compare to. The glareshield is holding
up the shreds in over the far end of the box. The black
trashbag in the background is full of the shreds I've already removed.
The whole thing revealed. I don't have any more pictures, but
as I was inspecting the canopy there were lots of little scratches in
it. At first I was concerned about the plexi, but then I
realized that there is a protective film on both the inside and
outside. The windscreen is under the canopy. If you
look closely you can see the cut line on the left side of the
windscreen (top when installed).
Next I looked in on the preformed wing leading edges. I've
got a picture of the box, but I didn't take one of the inside of it.
I didn't take them out because as soon as I pulled the last
staple out the box sprung open - lots of force on the sides of the box
from the skins springing out.
